MCS wins award for a program that is improving the wellbeing of children and young people

14 Sep 2017

On 31 August, Mercy Community Services’ (MCS) Greater Ipswich Foster Care team was publicly recognised for their outstanding contribution to child safety and protection at the Queensland Child Protection Awards Ceremony.

The Awards Ceremony is the launch event for Queensland Child Protection Week, an initiative coordinated by the Child Protection Week Committee under the authority of ACT for Kids.

The Greater Ipswich Foster and Kinship Care and Intensive Intervention Placement programs received the Ipswich Region winner award, within the ‘non-government organisations’ category, for successfully developing and implementing the MCS Boys and Girls Groups.

The two groups focus on enhancing the wellbeing, independence and self-esteem of children and young people within the Foster and Kinship Care programs, by providing each child with a positive role model and mentor. The Greater Ipswich Foster Care team also coordinate several outings for the Boys and Girls Groups, to foster socialisation and strengthen relationships.

Congratulations to the MCS Greater Ipswich Foster Care team for the ‘best practice’ care services you provide to children and young people who are unable to stay at home because of their protective needs.

This noteworthy achievement highlights the exceptional work being done by the MCS Foster Care team, as we pursue our mission to support and inspire people in need to live healthy, connected lives within inclusive communities.
